The controversial business decisions of a high-profile yacht owner attracted intense critical media attention. Enterprising journalists took to the water in small boats to talk to and film the yacht’s crew and attempt to speak with the owner.
Navigate Response was contacted by the yacht master and yacht management team to provide media training to the crew.
The training took place onboard the vessel and gave participants the skills and techniques to fend off journalist approaches without giving a reaction that might further exacerbate the story. Participants also practiced managing journalist interactions that might occur ashore involving the owner or guests.
Social media use, online privacy and general media awareness were also covered.
The crew reported feeling much better prepared to deal with the media following the training and no adverse media interactions have occurred since.
