Maritime policy specialist joins Navigate Response as Crisis Response Manager

Navigate Response, the leading global maritime crisis communications consultancy, announced today that Kyle Fawkes has joined its expanding London team as a Crisis Response Manager.

Kyle joins Navigate Response from the academic sector where he led evaluations that examined the development of international laws, policies and programmes relating to various maritime operations and fisheries management. Kyle also brings hands-on crisis communications experience from the British Columbia Wildfire Service, where he worked as a reporting officer in their provincial headquarters. With the maritime sector facing ever greater diplomatic and geopolitical challenges, Kyle’s experience will offer Navigate Response’s clients greater insight into how changing political profiles may influence crisis response in the maritime sector.

Joining the Navigate Response team, Kyle said:

“I am excited to be part of Navigate Response’s growing crisis communications team at the forefront of providing support to maritime organisations, which are now facing the impacts of a rapidly evolving media and social media landscape. In a crisis, an effective communications plan is often the difference between garnering public trust and attracting widespread condemnation.

Even in crises that are unavoidable, public goodwill and sympathy can rapidly disappear without an appropriately articulated response. Controlling the key message is critical to  underpinning of the entire crisis management and recovery process.”

Welcoming Kyle Fawkes, Navigate Response Managing Director, Mike Elsom said:

“We are delighted to welcome another crisis specialist into our response team. As our client base has grown rapidly, and continues to do so, Kyle’s appointment represents a further investment in our offer, ensuring we continue to deliver unrivalled incident response, media training and exercising services.
Our team comprises former seafarers, journalists, Public Information Officers (PIOs), shipping industry insiders, social media experts and maritime corporate communications specialists. Kyle’s background is a welcome addition as our clients are increasingly confronted with emerging threats and a changing political environment in the industry.”
