Navigate Response launches online spokesperson training

At Navigate Response we continue to offer our market leading, 24/7 crisis response support throughout this turbulent period. This includes media training and crisis planning to ensure companies remain prepared to handle a media crisis.

With travel restrictions ongoing, as an interim measure until things return to normal, we have expanded our online training offerings to ensure your teams remain media prepared in line with TMSA and other guidance.

eLearning Spokesperson Course
Navigate Response has developed an online training course for potential spokespersons. This is designed to maintain your preparedness and improve your skills as a company representative for the media.

The course can be used as a refresher for those who have already participated in media training sessions, or as an introduction for those who are new to the role.

Our 90-minute course, is hosted on Navigate’s eLearning platform and concludes with a 30-minute live one-on-one video call practice session with one of our Crisis Response Managers.

The course focuses on preparing participants for remote interviews - an increasingly common media interaction in today’s media landscape, particularly during the current lockdown affecting many countries. Modules include:

  • Identifying the characteristics of a good spokesperson
  • Learning how a typical maritime casualty unfolds in the media
  • Distinguishing between facts and assumptions
  • Developing key messages to communicate to the media
  • Bridging from a journalist’s tough question to what you want to say
  • How to appear on camera
  • Setting up for a remote interview
  • 30 minutes one-on-one coaching and practice with one of our trainers

All participants who complete the course will receive a certificate of completion.

The course can be accessed through any internet connected device. Participants can start or stop the course at any time, and the progress of those enrolled can also be monitored by your chosen company representative.

Online Group Training
For training with larger groups, especially for those who will not be the company’s spokesperson in an incident but who need to be prepared to respond to media pressure, avoid sharing problematic social media posts and support the company’s spokespeople, we are offering our media awareness training as a live group session.

This 2.5-hour seminar will be conducted online with our Crisis Response Managers, covering key topics including maritime crisis case studies, handling media approaches in person and over the phone, and good social media conduct. We will formulate the specific course length and content with you to ensure that all learning objectives for participants are met.

Certificates can be provided for all attendees.
