Mike is a shareholder and director of Navigate Response and is active in all aspects of the business. He has a seafaring background together with many years’ experience working in the maritime and shipping services sector.
As an expert communicator, Mike advises on corporate communications, crisis response and reputation management at a senior level. His wide range of industry contacts together with his working knowledge of the print, online and broadcast media allows him to work closely with clients to implement effective strategies that minimise the impact of a maritime or corporate crisis. He has worked on a wide range of incidents across the world including spills, collisions, groundings, piracy attacks, crew issues and corporate reputational risks. He also conducts media and spokesperson training at all levels.
Mike began his career as a submarine officer in the Royal Navy where he served for eight years. He then gained a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) and was appointed business development and marketing director at the Baltic Exchange. Mike was then asked to head-up a government sponsored organisation responsible for encouraging shortsea and coastal shipping. He also served as chairman of the European Shortsea Network.
Mike is also a director of Navigate PR, a sister company to Navigate Response that specialises in providing corporate communications services to maritime and shipping. He has been involved with Navigate since 2006.
